Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is recognized for her outstanding performances in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter received numerous awards which included her first Oscar for her film Piano. The well-known actress began her career as an actor on the stage with an array of Broadway and Off Broadway productions. From her early years she's been enthusiastic about the art of acting. The role she played was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school production. Following a bout of Mumps, she went deaf in one ear. However, this didn't stop her from pursuing her dream to work as an actress. When she was a teenager, she studied acting in the college before moving to New York City from Pittsburgh in order to pursue her ambitions. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut through a chance encounter together with Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. When she moved into Los Angeles she tried to get film roles and bagged one of them in Swing Shift. In the years since, she has been in numerous films and shows and TV films over a career spanning over three decades. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
